So in digging around for news on E-Sports in general i really couldn't find much. So i went to a different search topic: Starcraft, Blizzard's massive MMO. The MMO is a game of international fame and it also allows people who play it professionally to apply for a athlete visa. This is in the case for Starcraft gamer Kim Dong-hwan. He is only 23 years old and he is now in America on an athlete visa. This South Korean came to the U.S. three times for the Starcraft tournaments but wants to base himself here so that he can advance himself in the gaming industry. The young man goes by the name of Violet is, also on of the millions of online gamers who are in or from, South Korea. The five year visa that kim is here on is one that allows him to be considered among the athletes that travel here for things like baseball or football. The funny thing is that he only applied for the visa after being denied a student visa 3 times. Good job America.
It's true and kinda funny that America will pay for a professional E-sports player to move from place to place. I feel that E-sports are now being recognized as true sports, and I'm glad that more and more people are treating E-sport players as if they were football or baseball players. Just a few days ago there was a large starcraft 2 tournament at Blizcon, and there were announcers, a huge stage, and large numbers of fans. If people are willing to go all out for these kind events then it won't be long until E-sports are being aired at sports bars. Personally I can't wait.
